The Farm House, Little Silver, NJ

This is a great postcard of the Roosevelt Tea Room, which ultimately became The Farm House, which ultimately burned to the ground. I ate dinner at the Farm House May 28, 1989 and after dinner my boyfriend asked me to marry him. It must've been a pretty good meal, we'll be celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary this year.

Tara,

We loved the Farm House too. The best prime rib. I still have one of their business cards.
Long after the fire my girlfriend and I were driving around and wanted to see what happened to the site hoping that maybe they reopened. I see a rebuilt building and next to the front door was a large plaque "THE FARM HOUSE". YES!! It's reopened! So we park and walk in and the place is empty and quiet. I thought..."Too early for the dinner service"? So I start wandering around looking for someone and then I see it. It's someone's home! It's NOT a restaurant any more. Oh man! So I took my girlfriend arm and quietly said...."we need to leave, NOW". Once in the car I explained and we had a good laugh......MIKE

That’s a great story. I loved that restaurant and was so disappointed that they never rebuilt.
