Forgiveness, Peace and Bridges

Found the following two simple, profound sayings on a blog, though the blog itself seemed to be a fossil as it hadn't been updated in 3 years! Nonetheless, they resonated deeply with me:

Forgiveness Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.

Peace Of Mind Peace of mind comes not from wanting to change others, but by simply accepting them as they are.

I could use a little of both these days...hoping for forgiveness and praying for peace of mind. I do find a good deal of peace while I'm reading, but is it true peace or is it escapism? Is there a difference? Can peace ever be created at a global level if we can't seem to find it at a micro level? In any case, I wish you peace. And happiness. And forgiveness, if you need it for yourself or if you need to extend it to someone else.  Sounds terrifically corny, but building a bridge to a happy future without getting snared in the sadness of the past is my main objective right now.
